Just
because you are on a holiday does not mean that you should stop working out –
moreover, changing the scenery sometimes does wonders for your motivation and
most people like exercising outdoors. No matter how effective and productive the
bench press is, being in the open, breathing in fresh air and looking at nature
is more than inspiring. Therefore, here are a couple of exercises designed for
parks and beaches, perfect when on a vacation.

Basic Exercises
Both
parks and beaches offer a chance for you to set up your exercise mat and
perform several simple and effective exercises you usually do at home – sit-ups,
push-ups, crunches, squats and squat jumps, or simply jump over a jump rope.
These will elevate your heart rate, boost your metabolism, break your sweat and
basically prepare you for more complex exercises that are yet to come.
Tree Plank
When
surrounded by trees, make the most of the situation: get some assistance from a
tree in losing some weight. Namely, the tree plank is like a regular plank you
can perform in differentvariations, but with a little extra something. Place your hands on the ground with your elbows
shoulder-wide and elevate first one leg and then the other by placing your feet
onto a tree. You should be parallel with the ground and that should remain your
basic position. The exercise consists of simply holding still in that position for
about ten seconds, to begin with. As you excel, you can expand the time and do
more repetitions, and within a couple of days, you will see changes in your
shoulders, back, chest and abs.
Beach Exercises
You
do not have to perform complex exercise routines at the beach: take in the
beauty around you and do the ones you generally enjoy. Running on the sand is
always a good way to start and then adapt your favorite picks to the
environment. If you are going to Dubai, like I am for the third consecutive
year, pay attention to this amazing personaltraining program in Dubai – it transfers your everyday
exercises into exciting beach crawls, sand lunges and so much more. Finally,
try to incorporate swimming and yoga, which is ideal for the beach.
Step Master
It
does not matter if you choose a boardwalk or a park bench for this exercise,
but you need an elevated surface to step onto – this is just like a step master
exercise in the gym, but in the outdoor environment. From a squat position with
knees bent just a little bit, put one foot onto the bench, step on it, hold on
for a second or two, and then get down. Alternate feet with every repetition
and do at least fifteen in a series. This exercise will engage your legs and
abs, but be sure to wear properfootwear – you must protect your feet and ankles and feel
comfortable.
Jump-Ups
Again,
you will need a bench for this one, plus some balancing skill. Face the bench
with your feet hip-wide and simply jump with both feet onto the bench – but try
not to fall! Keep your balance and stay on the edge of the bench for a moment
and then jump back down. Do as many repetitions as you can, but do not push
yourself too hard. Anything higher than ten is great for a beginner and you
will manage to do more and more as time passes.
Combinations
With
plenty of beach/park exercises, you have enough to form combinations and
workout sessions. The key is to start with stretching, running and basic stuff and
then, once your body is fully activated, move on to more serious exercises.
